What Search Engines Love?

Search-Engine-Marketing

A great web design alone is not enough in order to have a successful website on the internet. The success of a website is usually measured by how many people are visiting that website and once they are on this website what they do. In terms of a business website our main goal should be to deliver a positive image of the business and to get new customers. Binging visitors to a website is not as easy as you might think.

Web is so full of websites on almost every topic that there is a good chance that someone has already written all the things that you wanted to put on your website. Which makes them no different from others. At this point you needs Search Engine Optimization.

Search engines love content, but what they love even more is how this content is presented and served to the audiences on your website. There are many good practices that you can follow on your website in order to make it more search engine friendly. For example writing effective titles for your pages can create a huge impact on your search engine performance.

Another thing that you can do is to add a semantic and properly structured document style. There should be headings on your page and you should use your keywords in those headings. Search engines also want to know how you link to the pages on your website. So make sure that all your pages are properly linked together and there is a sitemap for your website.

Social Media Ready Web Design

Small businesses are taking full advantage of social media these days. The social web has become the most significant communication platform and it presents great marketing opportunities to businesses of all kinds and sizes. But the problem is that many small business owners are not marketing gurus or social media experts. However, following some simple rules they can effectively use online marketing tools.

To embark upon a successful social media marketing campaign, the first thing you need is a small business website. You can do it yourself, but I would strongly recommend that you hire a professional web design service to do the job for you. Once you have found the right web design company, you need to discuss your requirements with them.

At that point you need to specifically tell your web design company that you need a Social media ready web design.

You might wonder what is a social media ready web design?

Simply put, a social media ready web design makes it easier for the visitors of your website to share your content on the social web.

However social media marketing is not limited to that. You need to have accounts on major social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook. You should share your social media profile on your website so that the visitors can follow you and add you or your business to their contacts. You can start fan pages, community or a small group focused around your business.

Active participation on your social media profiles would bring you reliable, trustworthy traffic of customers who might already be interested in your products or services.

Small Business Websites – Important Tips

This is true that getting a small business website has become easier. But running a successful website is not that easier. As part of a web design company, I am often asked by clients about what they should do now.

Please remember that the web is an interactive media, small business websites are not like brochures that you can just print, distribute and wait for miracles to happen. They need constant care, attention and regular updates to become successful and effective.

It is not easy for a small business website owner to run their business as well as update their small business website. Time is the biggest constraint and of course since you are not getting much results in the beginning you may not find yourself motivated enough to do the job.

However, there are many free tools available that can simplify updating for you. For example you can add a news section to your website where you can post news and updates about your business. Now these news and updates need not to be super lengthy and extra cool. But they need to be regular. Write small casual items about the events and happenings around your business. And post them on the go from your mobile phone.

There is always Social Media; it is not enough to have a website. Each small business should also have a Facebook page and a Twitter profile. Allow the visitors of your website to join your social networks from your website. Then you can post the same news items to your Social Media and you can also directly interact about your current and potential customers.

If you got your small business website from some cheap web design company please make sure that your website is easy to update and it comes with a content management system that is not hosted by the web design company. Sometimes web design companies offer free CMS but once your contract period ends they ask you to pay for that CMS. Ask your web design company to use an open source and free content management system for your website, such as Wordpress.
Also make sure that your small business website has a contact page with an email form. Make it really easier for the visitors of your website to contact you. Also provide your businesses’ location and telephone numbers on this page.

Taking care of these small things you can make your small business website interactive and useful. This fulfills the purpose of have a website in the first place and also helps you connect with your customers on a different level.

How to run a small business website

Thanks to the automated Content Management Systems, businesses can now publish easily on their websites. However, once they have got their website, most small business owners are totally clueless as to what they should be doing with their website.

Web is so full of content and the web users are people hungry for content all the time. So if you provide them fresh content they would keep visiting your website. The big question here is what you should put on your website as content.

This is a difficult question to answer. Since most business websites do not need to change that often, once you have added the description of your business, your products or services, your work there is basically done.

To keep your website alive you can always add a blog. With blogging you can post news, announcements and other information on your website in an informal way.

You can add information about new packages or offer discounts for special occasions. To inform your visitors about these changes you need to provide them options to subscribe to the content of your website. So add Feedburner email subscription to your webpage and allow visitors to subscribe to your content via their favorite news readers.

Adding a link to your business profile on twitter and facebook will help you interact directly with your existing and potential customers. A visitor on your site can then add you directly and ask you questions online on your profile pages. Such things will also increase you customer loyalty and eventually your sales.

Social Media Ready Web Design - A social visit made easy

Social Media marketing has proved itself as an effective marketing tool, particularly for small businesses with very niche and hard to reach markets. In some cases small businesses have marketed themselves so effectively that they beat their large competitors with better corporate funding and resources.

However, social media is also making people smarter. Not only the businesses who are out there to exploit social media, but also the consumers who are now well aware of the choices they have. Businesses need to be smarter about how they promote themselves on social media.

Planning is also an important part of any marketing plan and ignoring a web design in this marketing could lead to an unsuccessful waste of resources. If you are planning your web design now, then it would be better that you think about how you are going to integrate social media into your website. However, if you already have a website then you should re-check your web design to make sure that it is social media ready.

What is a Social Media ready web design?

Web design with room for adding social website buttons; a web design that publishes RSS feed and provides links on the web pages for easy sharing, content aggregation, and content submission. Your web design should be interactive and users should be able to follow links to your social profiles on social networks.

Small Business Website Design Projects - Considerations

U.S. Economy in general and global economy in particular gets the most contribution from these small businesses. When large corporations were throwing people out of the jobs during recession, these small businesses were finding a new boost. Cheap labor was now readily available and innovative minds were at their disposal. This caused a boom at grass root level which was so not meant to be measured but after a while the US economy has started to feel its benefits. The small businesses understand the significance of marketing and have found ways to apply it using fewer resources and reaching small markets.

A web presence is essential for effective online marketing so small businesses are hiring web designers, developers, freelancers, graphic designers for logo design and many more people associated with the web development industry. This has directly benefited the web design sector of IT industry.

Some business owners even try to do their own website designs. They research on the web how they can do it and spend a lot of time downloading open source CMS, buying shared hosting, registering domain names, uploading their CMS, and then learning to use it. All these tasks are very time consuming if you are new to web design.

But then hiring people or companies to do that needs money and who has money these days? Not the small businesses they don’t have it. But the good news is that the web designers don’t have it either and with little effort small business owners can easily find web designers who would do their websites at unbelievably low prices.
